Planning a camping trip in Wales this summer? You’d fit right in with this enamelware from Blodwen. I got a bit excited when I saw this! The classic navy and white has been given a wonderful Welsh twist, featuring the iconic ‘Caernarfon’ pattern that you normally see used in traditional tapestry blankets…

Blodwen has lots of lovely stuff. The founder, Denise Lewis, is passionate about supporting handmade Welsh craft. She designed this ‘Gwalia’ (Welsh for ‘homeland’) enamelware herself  and, although the enamel is sourced in Europe, the design and firing of the decals is all done in Wales.

1. Enamel jug, £35; 2. Mug set, £28 for 2; 3. bowl, £15.

Based in Cardigan Bay, you’ll also find woven baskets, wooden bowls, pottery, tapestry floor mats and homemade jam! Have a browse online at their delightful wares and the Gwalia is also available through Liberty. – Alice

Camping… c’est chic!

July 23, 2009

Holidays at home are the recessionista’s summer break of choice… and boy, do we know how to do it in style! Nearly all my childhood holidays were spent under canvas, but I’m sure camping never used to be this cool…

CK tentA little birdie’s just told me that this fabulous Cath Kidston teepee went into the sale yesterday – you can snap yours up for a bargain £75 down from £100… unless I get there first that is!

JollydaysBut if pitching your own tent sounds too much like hard work, why not try a trip to North Yorkshire and book one of these gorgeous fully-equipped bell tents from Jollydays? Kitted out with floral bunting, vintage china and pretty painted furniture, this is the kind of camping dreams are made of. Bliss! But if retro’s more your thing…

Snail Trail Betty

Elsie and MatildaBetty, Elsie and Matilda are waiting in all their pastel-coloured glory to whisk you away to a destination of your choice! Snuggle down on a heap of stripy cushions, wrapped in a crochet blanket for a good old fashioned night under the stars. Betty and friends live near London with Snail Trail when they’re not chugging around the British coast and countryside – I bet you won’t be able to decide which of the girls to take!

Beach Hut cropHow cute are these VW camper tea towels and mugs, available from The Beach Hut? And of course, just in case, you’ll be needing a pair of these from Joules

Joules wellies… we’re still holidaying at home after all! – Bethan

Let’s go camping…

May 29, 2009

Today is the last official day of National Camping Week and it’s gloriously sunny outside, so let’s mark the occasion with this dreamy image from Laura Ashley.

Yes, the Teepee-without-a-roof looks a bit impractical, the white armchair isn’t ideal for a muddy field, and there’s no electricity supply for the lamp – but that’s the joy of styling! I love the pretty bunting – it’s £14.69 and perfect for a garden party. – Ellie

Tesco spring/summer range

February 6, 2009

I know it’s icy outside, but I’m feeling summery – we’ve just been to the Tesco spring/summer press show at trendy Covent Garden venue The Hospital, to get a sneak preview of the new collections before they hit the shops.

There was a great range of picnicware, and I particularly liked the plum and green striped set, which will be priced at £2 for a plate and a bowl. I also loved the wicker picnic hamper from Tesco Direct. It looks like an expensive set, with leather-style straps and stylish plastic wine glasses, but it’s just £25 for the whole lot!

There were some gorgeous glass hurricane lamps too, which were equally bargainous – they look like vintage pieces, but start at just £4 each. All these lovely things are due to hit Tesco shops later this year around April…so roll on the summer!
