It’s not everyday you can walk into a shop and come out with a vintage jelly mould reinvented as a pendant lamp, a Mexican bingo set, moose shaped firelighters and a deckchair. But if you’re lucky enough to live near the market town, Corbridge in Northumberland, you can! (For those that don’t, you can of course buy online, phew!), Simon Young and Jenny Vaughan’s converted workshop (round the back of an old filling station) is a treasure trove of totally unique finds for the home. They named their shop RE after two giant metal red letters they bought in a Parisian flea market…

People, step inside and feast your eyes on these wonderful buys..

I would very much like these jolly, jelly mould pendant lamps. How lovely to hang a row of these above a kitchen table…

Thank goodness it’s March! Spring had sprung and I’ve just bought 4 bunches of daffodils for £1 in my lunch break – hurrah! They’re currently bunged in a vase and just about surviving in our air conditioned office but what I’d really like to display them in is this…

A test tube for each single stem. Ah Joy! Thank you RE. Delightful finds and next time I’m even vaguely heading oop north I’m going to take a detour and pop by. – Alice

BONE china

October 6, 2010

Just called my boyfriend. I’m going to be late. Because I’m obsessed with these skeleton plates…

In the wonderful MacabRE section of the RE shop, is this set of six skeleton plates. Do you want to eat your peas off a pelvis? Scrape your sauce from a sternum? Cut your cod on a clavicle? Well, now you can. Mwah ha ha haaa.

Just in time for Halloween, but pretty darn cool at any time of year. – Ellie

A plea to RE

June 24, 2010

Oh RE. Naughty RE. You just keep on tempting me with your RE-found objects, and your RE-ally lovely vintage bits and RE-cycled bobs. It’s always the same. Just when I think I’ve seen it all, and I’m RE-ady to RE-tire, you ping me a tasty little email and TEASE me with your latest REeeee-diculously nice collection: little milk bottles, butterfly plates (liddle beeet Lou Rota), chandelier crystals (who knew? but I need one) and, your final trick – crochet hangers. Which. You. Know. I. Can’t. RE-sist. Sigh.

But I forgive you your sins, RE. Because it’s not you – it’s me. And these new products are SO RE-freshing! What wouldn’t I give to be at this garden party right now, elderflower champagne in hand…

These little milk bottles look SO lovely with tea lights and single blooms – this is a fab styling idea for a wedding!

Mmmm, loving these vintage-style candle holders…

…and, of course, these hangers. Particularly pleasing in a tREe. – Ellie

Oh my goodness – before I sign off for the weekend, I just have to share these new images from RE with you. I LOVE the UK cookie cutter!

These products are all brand new, and due to hit the RE shop soon! I like the new WASTE NOT WANT NOT tea towels below, and the lovely rusty PEACE AND PLENTY sign – perfect for bringing a bit of character to a vegetable plot.

So many lovely things! Have a good weekend – we’ll be back on Monday with more news and pretty buys. I’m going to an American friend’s 4th July party this weekend, so I’m planning to make some mini flags like this tomorrow, using printed flags (courtesy of Google Images!) pritt stick and cocktail sticks. There just aren’t enough hours in the day sometimes! – Ellie
