Yes. I know. It’s true. No, really. I wouldn’t lie about this. It would be CRUEL. Lisa Stickley has indeed designed a range of stationery and it’ll be in Selfridges and at Lisa Stickley London this autumn.

Having just ordered 100 Penguin postcards (possibly to frame, possibly to send, possibly to hoard in my pointless-yet-continually-expanding chest full of stationery), I don’t strictly speaking NEED this range, too. But we’ll see. (Translation: I will be buying it anyway because I am WEAK.) – Ellie

The Secret Santa HINTS

December 21, 2009

…paid off. Terrible, I know, but after dropping blatant hints for a few weeks, I was lucky enough to receive this little bundle of truly scrumptious letterpress-printed postcards and a ‘Scribble’ notebook from the Sort Design typography chaps in our Secret Santa!

As you can see, the Ideal Home girls excel in the packaging department, using a date stamp and a ‘received’ stamp (both nabbed from work but available from glamorous places such as Rymans!) to give the label a vintage, authentic look. The fact that I opened this parcel four days early is naughty I know, but it has been unfairly highlighted by this date label, which is gorgeous but a bit specific. Of course, I’ll be re-using it on Christmas Day, cheapskate that I am.

I need to think of something important to write in the lovely notebook, as it’s far too posh for shopping lists, and I might frame a few of the postcards for some wall art (not that I have much wall space left!!). If you like what you see, check out the Sort Design Etsy shop. – Ellie

Car boot bounty

December 8, 2009

Just thought I’d show you the lovely bits of vintage treasure (AKA: tat) I picked up at the car boot sale I went to on Saturday…

As you can see, all strictly essentials to my everyday existence. How did I live before I owned a box of 1920s pen nibs? How did I function without a packet of pencil leads produced by appointment to the late King George V? Unimaginable. I also bought a massive vintage Singer sewing machine for just £8, which now takes pride of place on a shelf in my living room (AKA: gathering dust but looking gorg.) – Ellie
