Gabrielle is a designer who lives with her husband and little dog in a rural cottage in Surrey. She makes cards, cute notebooks and plantable bunting (!) amongst other things. Her business is called The Green Gables. She only uses FSC certified paper, works with local printers and suppliers, uses recycled packaging and all orders are shipped from her local village Post Office. Her cheery post card designs landed in my inbox this week and I love the simple illustrations that feature some of my favourite vintage objects…

They’re a mere £3.50 for a mixed set of 6 and if you don’t feel like giving them away then why not use as a mini piece of wall art? Lovely. – Alice

Pretty wall art

August 20, 2010

I just stumbled across some pretty hand-cut initial greeting cards from Hertfordshire-based ‘gemma with a g‘ –  they’d look so pretty framed and hung as wall art.

Once I checked out her full range, I couldn’t choose a favourite! – Ellie

I love the quirky British character of Emma Bridgewater‘s pottery, and my expectations are always high whenever she brings out a new collection. Having just had a sneaky peep at the lovely autumn/winter catalogue out later this year, I wasn’t disappointed.

Speckled Hen Egg Cup_ _7_95 - Emma BridgewaterHighlights include cute speckled hen egg cups, some lovely larder shots showing the new National Gardens Scheme charity mugs, and the now-notorious-headstand-teapot move – think break-dancing, but in an English kitchen with expensive china…

Even the factory is pretty! The little holly candle mug above would make a gorgeous Christmas gift. (I know it’s bonkers to say that in June, but in the mad land of Ideal Home magazine, we’re already feeling festive!) Now then, pass me that teapot, it can’t be that hard. – Ellie
