The Valentine Files: PART III

February 12, 2010

As Nessa would say, what’s occurrin’? Soppy wall art, my friends…that’s what.

Yes, welcome to Cheese-ville, where even the walls are LUVVED-UP and dripping with romantic phrases. The LOVE RULES print is from the Keep Calm Gallery.

Hmmmmmm…..that’s a tricky one. Bit like the old chicken and the egg issue really. One thing’s for sure, there should definitely be a question mark on this print from the fabulously-named Coulson Macleod.

Aaaaaaaah, bless. The definition of romance. Excuse me while I just fetch a bucket.

This ‘Two peas in a pod’ print is from Modo Creative. I’ve considered this and I’d rather be the cute little pea on the left than the obese one on the right. This Valentine’s Day, my Other Half will be lucky enough to receive the cute card below left, from the lovely Papermash. Of course, it’s bound to be completely wasted on him really. Typewriters are more my thing than his. But I couldn’t find a card with a picture of a PlayStation on it. Or a kebab. So this will have to do. And of course, I get to frame it on the 15th. Tee HEE.

The badge card on the right is a little DELIGHT from Cowboys and Custard. If only I had a badge making machine, she sighed wistfully, for the millionth time. Over and out, have a lovely weekend. – Ellie

The Valentine Files: PART II

February 11, 2010

All aboard the lurve train, people. Like it or loathe it, the Valentines stress fest is in full swing…

Let’s kick things off with a peep at the pretty gifts in store at Cox and Cox. I like the silver heart decorations (lovely at any time of year!), the romantic sugar cubes and the little heart pegs best…

Feeling creative? Feeling skint? Both, perhaps? Check out this cute Valentines craft project from our new March issue – it’s cheap to make and oh-so-personal! Buy a vintage map (or just print a map from Google!) then frame the place where you first met…or the town you got married in…or the resort where you spent your honeymoon…or the last place you had a row…

Get more craft kicks elsewhere and download this gorgeous free project from Papermash. What a cute idea – romantic 50s-style paper straws for a Valentine’s Day table setting. Imagine how cool these would look in strawberry milkshakes!

Have you been to HobbyCraft lately? It just gets better and better. I like this idea of using edible rice paper with alphabet stamps and edible ink to write little love notes on biscuits…

A bit more loveliness from our friends at Notonthehighstreet

I posted about some little ceramic hearts earlier this week, and here’s one I photographed tied around a bundle of vintage love letters for a shoot a while ago. SIGH! And on that soppy note, I’ll be off. I’m starting to feel a bit nauseous. – Ellie

LOVE is in the air

February 5, 2010

Crafting Queen Felicity Hall just emailed me today about a gorgeous free needlepoint pattern download that she’s produced for her website. If you get stitching now, you MIGHT just finish it in time for Valentine’s Day!?

Pop back next week to see beautiful retro caravan interiors from our Book of the Week, My Cool Caravan. Until then, have a lovely weekend. – Ellie

We love, erm, LOVE pillows

September 14, 2009

I don’t want to sound like I’m in High School Musical or some similarly saccharine tweenie flick, but O.M.G! Why did nobody tell me that Cox & Cox’s gorgeous pink LOVE pillows (which I have been ogling for a while and debating whether or not to buy…) are in fact available directly from the people who make them, Lush Designs, for £7 less than Cox & Cox, and in lots of different colours, including red, which is perfect for our bedroom as it co-ordinates with my Union Jack bunting? SIGH. You just can’t get the staff these days. – Ellie
